AKG, founded in Vienna by Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless, soon became one of the biggest players in the world of sound. Today AKG is synonymous with good sound, stands for passion in music providing the highest quality and ongoing innovation in the world of music. The company was founded in 1947 and within months, the first AKG microphones were being used in radio stations, theatres and Jazz-Clubs. The products (the AKG DYN Series) were at that time manufactured by hand by five workers.
In 1949, the first AKG headphones came on the market. Then, in the early fifties AKG made a breakthrough with several new products: Totally new technologies like the world’s first high quality condenser microphone, the D 12 with its cardioid characteristics, the world’s first remote-controlled multi-pattern capacitor microphone, the C 12 and the D 36 made acoustic history. One of the first customers of the famous C 12 microphone was the BBC in London.

As any true audiophile will attest, the Mark Levinson name is synonymous with audio purity. So when we design a piece of equipment, perfection isn’t the goal but the starting point.
Our engineers spare no expense sourcing the best materials from around the world, and they only release new products when they exceed all expectations. That’s why the whole industry looks to us to raise the bar and then set it again. But we don’t have to tell you that—you can experience it with every note. In 1972, Mark Levinson cracked the code of pure audio playback with hand-built stereo components that overcame every known limitation on sound reproduction. Since then, we’ve created a class of our own by consistently releasing the best sounding, longest lasting, most intuitive audio/video components in the world—products that are just as gorgeous as they are meticulously crafted. That’s the level of audio excellence you see in every Mark Levinson component today.

Q Acoustics is not like other loudspeaker companies.
Q Acoustics is a young brand.
No heritage. No tradition. No old black and white photographs.
That is the secret of our success.
“Some of the most forward-thinking products in existence.”
What HI-FI? Sound & Vision (November 2009)
Q Acoustics was established in 2006; not by a wealthy ‘music lover’ or retired ‘rock musician’ (who, in their marketing material, would inevitably claim to have spent decades being dissatisfied with all the speakers available and had therefore decided to make their own). No, Q Acoustics was founded by professional businessmen with the sole aim of developing a highly successful loudspeaker brand. It’s that simple, a completely focussed, professional understanding of business has driven our remarkable success. Because we recognised, long before anybody even dreamed of designing our first products; that the only way Q Acoustics could possibly enjoy commercial success was to design and produce loudspeakers that were, without question, demonstrably superior to their similarly priced competitors. In other words, we had to make the best affordable loudspeakers in the world.
So that’s what we did.
And, please do not misunderstand us. Although we have no history or tradition, we do have vast expertise. To produce the world’s best loudspeakers, we obviously had to engage the world’s best loudspeaker designers and provide unlimited access to the most advanced design and engineering facilities. So that’s what we did.
“It’s amazing what Q Acoustics has accomplished in eight years. ”
What HI-Fi? Sound & Vision (May 2014)
